That was the reply I received recently concerning an incident.
Accidents Happen -- is NOT an acceptable answer. Everything happens for a reason. Inattention, carelessness, improper procedures, wrong or improper tools, failure to follow proper repair and safety procedures.
Working on motor vehicles, motorized equipment is dangerous and hazardous. There are flammable materials and liquids. There are liquids that can cause skin irritation and even burns. Brake cleaner, carb and choke cleaner, brake fluid, gasoline, diesel fuel to name a few items.
Get familiar with proper safety procedures and warnings. Get and use the necessary PPE ( Personal Protective Equipment ).
Rant over. Have a good, safe weekend.

yea, accidents do happen but mine wasn't mechanically inclined. driving a crew to get on a train a hundred twenty five miles from here & switch crews & take them to lincoln. done it many a time but this time I made it fifty five miles from home & a pickup pops over the hill in my lane. took the shoulder but he was evedintly still heading toward his left as he creamed the whole left side of my van & knocked us into the ditch. got three days off for that one since I had a crew on board even though everybody said I probably saved all our lives. stupid drug tests. makes four I've had to take because of deer & this one & one random one. guy was dui at six in the morning when the accident happened. .141 if I remember right. crew members got checked out at the nearest hospital just in case but one had back problems & his was bothering him so best have it looked over. I had two small scrapes on my left hand but other than that nothing hurt that didn't hurt when I got up so declined getting checked out. 2014 expedition was what we were in & the other guy was in a 2015 chevy pu. totaled both of them. now I'm getting letters from lawyers from lincoln. blood suckers.

Just glad to hear that you and the crew are all ok. That want an accident. The other driver was drunk by his own hand and nobody forced him to drive. All deliberately done.

Hi Bob. true it was by his own hand but I forgot to mention he also fell asleep at the wheel. I'd just like to know where the heck he was heading at that hour & in that condition. was only ten miles from his home town heading away from it. got another blood sucking lawyer letter in the mail yesterday. can only imagine the ones the engineer got for taking the ambulance to the hospital.

Were they your company lawyers? If not, I'm surprised your company lawyers haven't wanted to talk to you.
Not all lawyers are blood suckers. Some are there to protect you, your company lawyers, from the bloodsuckers.
My phone # is in the staff notes, last post, vacation. Give me a call if you want. Sent you an email.

Wow1. glad you are OK , Kevin. Yes employers have become more aggressive on placing blame . In their mind there was something you could have done to prevent the crash, IE been driving at a slower speed, etc. Mostly opinion based.
ODOT always did have a negative attitude toward injury occurances. The forms we filled out to report an injury had a list of causes for the injury that were expressed negatively.
They increased their safety program and training intensity and it got to the point that certain injuries wrw an automatic reprimand , if not a suspension.

Thanks Jake. it's all on camera for them to review as they please. was only doing fifty five as per their rules & it was nighttime. already ruled it an unpreventable accident on my part & paid me twenty hours for the time I was suspended so not quite so bad. see what the lawyers try to make out of it. guy already admitted it was his fault which was obvious considering where the tire tracks started when he hit me. didn't hit the brakes at all as I was planning on just passing him on the shoulder & going on. that & there just wasn't time. just glad my crew was okay.
