Looking for a job? Have you reviewed your resume, job skills, job knowledge and do you have all of it listed? Are you up to date in your field?
Any thing else you are capable of doing . that could possibly be used in your field of work?
Think hard, make yourself a list of hobbies, activities you do and see if anything there is useful in a job.
Any courses available to further improve your knowledge?
It is a tough time out there, make yourself employable. Make yourself someone a potential employer would want on their team.

oh yea, I'm employable. just ask my bosses where I'm at now. on call 24/7 & always pick up the phone. BNSF is working on some kind of award for the actions I took with the accident not to long ago. keep getting asked if I've gotten it yet. spoke with the trainmaster the other day & asked what was going on? he said it was on order. lol. told me he was going to get me a BNSF hat. one I got for Christmas is a UP hat. only got mentioned about four times now so not too bad. said he'd talked to some of the crews & wasn't the type for the glory so they were just going to get me a gift card. said he'd let me know, but I WOULD get a BNSF hat. lol. still got the reputation for trannies in town so get called about them every now & then but time is limited & they better not be in a hurry. wouldn't work for any of the dealerships in town to begin with since I'm slow & they just want to rake in the hours. not how I was brought up since the age of five, chasing wrenches & bolts & slowly working up the ladder. thought about going to work for the city or county turning wrenches but not hiring as far as I can tell. don't know much about diesels anyway so no love lost there. pretty happy where I am so not going to chase my tail so call it. Have a great weekend coming up Jake. sorry your prodogy didn't work out. been there done that with mostly the FBI. won't tell you what the F stands for but the last two are brother inlaws.. lol. later.

Hi Kevin, so now they are going to give you recognition for your actions in the crash? Changed their mind about the write-up did they?
Right now you could have all the work you needed on transmissions here. 10 of the last 20 cars my nephew bought for the car lot had transmission problems. He has to take them to an out of town shop, about 60 miles or so away to get repaired and they have a 4 week backlog.
I definitely understand about being "slow" versus doing hack work. A lot of shops a remaking their money now selling wallet flushes, pay someone minimum wage to hook up a machine, have a total of a half hour labor involved and charge $150.00 .

Hi Jake, The write up was going to be through a newsletter my company puts out every now & then. the hat & gift card would be from the railroad itself. kinda humbles you when a company you don't directly work for recognizes you for your work. I didn't build most of the trannies I put in but got them from a place 250 miles northeast in my state. did a good job but when they matched the dealerships warrantee of three years &100,000 miles their prices went through the roof. pretty much put me out of business since an outfin seventy miles from me was beating my price plus they would go a hundred miles to pick it up free. either tool up & start building them myself or get out of the business. building one now in my spare time & got another one lined up to do after this one, plus look at my brothers rear end on his pickup. right rear wheel locks up while driving it. he thought it was because he didn't put limited slip additive in it but told him that would just affect going around the corners. not sure what I'm going to find, but going to look in the right rear drum first. any ideas would be appreciated. lol. take care & enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Good evening Kevin, Been year since I was in an automatic. Did them all the time when I started out my career. Worked Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth dealer. Did just torqueflites. Pulled them out replaced only what was bad, put them back in. Very seldom needed an hard parts.
Started at ODOT in 1981 and 99%+ their cars and trucks were manual transmission. That was the end of me doing automatics, and the beginning of doing manual transmissions. The big ones LOL . Dump truck transmissions, 4 speed, 5 speed, 13 speed, etc.
Eventually tho it became cheaper to just yank out the bad one and install a reman from International. One kit for the spicer 6+ was $2400, and you still needed more parts and a reman was $2800 with a 1 year warranty.
Truck rear brakes locking up? Check the E brake. Most now days are rear disc with shoes in the rotor hat for e brake. Smll space, easy to build up rust / debris.

never thought to ask the year. Am used to seeing newer stuff ( 2002 and up ) in the shop. Age of the used cars for the lot is going newer because after so old it is hard for some people to get a loan.
Old school, well grease on linings because of bad axle seal/axle bearing/axle. Bonded lining came loose and gets between other lining and drum when braking, worn out brake linings, parking brake partially stuck on.,

yea, forgot to put the year & make on the post. I know better. changed the shoes & wheel cyl's because of leaky axle seals which he replaced which is why he didn't have the limited slip additive put in to begin with. still gonna look in the drum before I tear the rear cover off.

Just thought of something that I ran into years ago. One tire worn badly, not much tread left on it. New brakes, that wheel locked up. Was not enough tread to grip the road when braking.

Years ago, driving home from work one day, my one rear wheel locked up. Mazda 323. Rocked the car back and forth to free it up, drive some and lock up again. Do the back and forth to free it up again. Just wanted to get home.
Had a brake shoe that the pad was bonded, not riveted. To the metal shoe. Pad came un-glued. Dang pad was tapered from wear and acted like a wedge between the drum and metal. 1st and only time in my life that happened to me.

Hi guys, Jake, tires are good all the way around on this one so shouldn't be the problem. Dave, not sure if bonded or not just that they are new shoes on back. only have to back up a little bit to get it to release but you never know when it's going to do it again.drove it two days I think before it did it to me & since then every time I drive it now. keeps moving just leaves a black streak on the right rear every now & then.
