Man Charged $81 Billion Dollars For Gas Save Email Print Posted: 11:57 PM Feb 28, 2009 Last Updated: 11:57 PM Feb 28, 2009 Reporter: news Email Address: news@wctv.tv 24 comments A | A | A
We've all survived some pretty pricey fill ups at the gas pump, but none of us have anything on the bill one Washington man got when he recently topped off his tank.
After filling up his car, Juan Zamora received a call from his credit card company checking a pre-authorization at a gas station for the amount of over 81-billion dollars.
After doing some math, he realized it would takes roughly a minute to put $15 of gas in a car, meaning it would take about 10,000 years to reach the $81 Billion dollar mark.
Zamora says his credit card company did eventually find out the problem and he was told the company used the merchant number and not the dollar figure from the pump.
